Humbled

First off - a HUMUNGOUS thank you to everyone that took note of our last minute plea & showed up for the show.  What a great community to be part of!

Every time that I consider getting out of the house concert business, I'm going to think back on the Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines concert.  I'd never seen them live before, so my expectations were about normal:  another night of good music.  Before the concert, I couldn't gush over them, other than the fact that Lloyd won a Grammy Award (YES a Grammy Award) for his production of the Dixie Chick's "Home".

Terri & Lloyd would have knocked my socks off IF I wasn't always barefoot at these concerts!  I felt like Bob Wills was in the house, like the New Leviathan Oriental Fox-Trot Orchestra stopped by and it was all peppered with a social consciousness & spirituality that I hope to aspire to.  To say nothing of the monster player that Lloyd is on any instrument he chooses to pick up.  Perhaps the most unforgettable part of the evening was the encore with Brendan, Maddie, Terri & Lloyd.   Maddie's scat was NOT that of a 16 year old and I just kept watching Lloyd signal Terri to let Brendan take another turn.   It was a fitting end to a magical evening.   It's all about expanding community.

This concert was definitely up there among my favorites, but poor Marc was working so hard on the sound board that I don't think he enjoyed it as much as I did.  We all owe him a huge round of applause for taking on sound for the master...

AND... a huge thanks to Laura & Chris WITHOUT WHOM we could never do this.  They make sure that our kitchen doesn't look like a bomb went off, they handle the CD sales for the artists and make our lives easier.  (this also extends to Joe & Kristen!!)
